Led by the teachers, students have opportunities to translate some classic and popular film and television works, such as international well know film Transformers, The Fast and The Furious and some large-scale domestic TV drama like The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils(天龙八部)，League of Gods（封神榜）, Decoded（解码） and etc. The capability of translate film and television works is improved in the real practice. It is not an easy thing to translate a complete large-scale TV drama by many students. Professor Jin Haina took the The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils of the version of the year 2013 as an example tell us how to guide the students to do film and television translation. The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils has a lot of names or nicknames, martial art movements and toponyms with extra implied meanings. If let the students translate the whole work alone, maybe there will be different translation versions of “天山童姥” and “凌波微步”, which can easily misunderstand the foreign audience. Before the whole translation course, the teachers should be familiar with the whole work to unify the translation of names, toponyms and martial art movements and make a unified term table. Students are divided into two-member groups to carry out the translation and check for each other. At last their translation will presented to teachers to have the final check and rectification. This model has greatly improved the accuracy and efficiency of translation.
As another platform for two-way talent cultivation base station, the School of International Studies often invite famous experts in film translation area, such as Australian sinologist Linda Jaivin, Wang Yifeng, Director of China Film Group Corporation film translation and production center, Jia Xiuyan, a translator of August First Film Studio. They all have taught students about film dubbing and subtitling. In addition, the School has established international workshop for Master of Translation and Interpretation(MTI). Dennis Kratz, the Dean of School of Arts and Humanities in the University of Texas, Li Jie, professor of Harvard University , Yyve Gambier，Chair of the Expert Group, Luis Perez-Gonzalez, the Director of Translation and Cross-cultural Center of University of Manchester and etc. have attended our workshop to show courses. The MTI International Worship is a totally open teaching platform for all students and teachers to study and communicate with each other.
