CUC and the University of Chile jointly built Chile Research Center for a Community with Shared Future

On March 24, the Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF) of Communication University of ChinaCUC had an online meeting with the Institute of Public Affairs, Institute of International Studies, and Institute of Communications and Image of the University of Chile on jointly building Chile Research Center for a Community with Shared Future. Both sides reached a consensus and planned to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the near term.

Li Huailiang, Dean of ICSF of CUC, introduced the background and situation of the overseas centers co-founded by ICSF. He said that we were looking forward to closer and deeper cooperation between both sides, not only in international communication but also in the cross-cultural research of the concept of a Community with a Shared Future. Li mentioned that the University of Chile is one of the leading universities in Latin America of long history. Li hoped that both sides would keep joint efforts to promote the understanding, development, and communication of the concept of a Community with a Shared Future.

“Nowadays, seeking shared value is not only an important issue for the development of the world, but also a common consensus all around the world when dealing with international relations. The University of Chile is looking forward to cooperating with CUC in the future.” said Eduardo Vera, Dean of the Institute of International Studies. Ricardo Gamboa, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Public Affairs, mentioned that Chile attached great importance to its cooperation with ICSF of CUC and hoped to promote academic and cultural exchanges between China and Chile through cooperation.

Kathy Sotomayor from the Institute of Communications and Image of the University of Chile and Andres Boreks, head of Program for China Studies at the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile, discussed the content of the memorandum of cooperation with Zhang Yanqiu, Deputy Dean of ICSF of CUC.

Anna Maria Castillo, co-director of the IA+SIC (Artificial Intelligence, Society, Information and Communication) Nucleus major in the University of Chile, Fabiola Wust, head of the master program in International Strategy and Trade Policy of the University of Chile, and Ji Deqiang, Deputy Dean of ICSF of CUC,introduced their respective research fields.Both sides will explore cooperation in research fields such as digitalization, international communication and cross-cultural communication for common development in the future.

Chile Research Center for a Community with Shared Future will be the fourth Latin American research center after the establishment of centers in Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico and the twelfth overseas research center co-founded by ICSF of CUC. Both sides will work together in the future to actively promote the academic cooperation and cultural exchanges.
