On the afternoon of October 11, Chinese International Education Foundation held a special video conference with Communication University of China(CUC) on issues related to the construction of Confucius Institute. Officials from the foundation and CUC attended the talks. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the construction of Confucius Institute in the new era and new situation.
Vice President Duan Peng reported on the construction of Confucius Institute in CUC. He said that CUC attached great importance to the construction of Confucius Institute, and under the new international situation, the construction of Confucius Institute in our university was also exploring new working ideas. Groningen Confucius Institute(GCI), which was jointly established by CUC, has won the title of "Confucius Institute of the Year" twice. Under the new situation, Confucius Institute has been focusing on Chinese teaching projects, and doing a solid job in Chinese teaching and training for Chinese teachers at all levels. In the aspect of class construction, two secondary schools applied to become a Confucius classroom this year, and one has been approved. As for the construction of HSK test sites, it was recently approved to set up a HSK test site in Delft, which is the only HSK test site there. Stichting Chinese School Delft (SCS-Delft) where the test site is located is the largest Chinese school in Netherlands. At present, the Confucius Institute has set up 33 test sites in the whole Netherlands. In terms of Chinese teacher training, Confucius Institute took the lead in launching online teacher training after the epidemic, and has conducted many high-quality training courses and workshops.
Secretary-General Zhao Lingshan thanked Vice-President Duan Peng and spoke highly of the work of Confucius Institute in CUC. Under the new situation, CUC has found a new idea of Confucius Institute construction, and its work is solid and meticulous. The Foundation is willing to continue to fully support CUC in building and maintaining the brand of Confucius Institute, and provide help for overseas Chinese lovers.
At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the construction of several other Confucius Institutes jointly established by CUC in Serbia, Brazil, Chile and Japan.
