The official website of International Festival of Animated Films ANIFILM 2022 in the Czech Republic has published the shortlist recently. After strict selection, Crab Soda, jointly directed by Guo Chuchu, Fei Linbo and Hu Ruolin, students from School of Animation and Digital Arts of Communication University of China(CUC), is shortlisted in the International Competition of Student Films. It is also the only qualifier from Chinese mainland in this year’s festival.

Guided by professor Ai Shengying from School of Animation and Digital Arts, Crab Soda is a short film for the graduation design of the three students. With its expressive technique of magic realism, the film tells a warm story between a father and his son. The son, who always dreamed of drinking soda, couldn’t realize his fancy because of poverty. After witnessing the failure of his father’s aquatic product business and reluctant compromises towards reality, he finally understood his father.

Anifilm was founded in 2010 and integrated with Anifest——another famous Czech international animation festival in 2013. Nowadays, it has become one of the most important animation festivals in Europe and enjoys enormous influence around the world. ANIFILM 2022 will be hosted from May 10 to May 15 at Liberec in the Czech Republic.
