Hainan Volunteer Proud and Passionate for Images of Hometown

Wu Qiuwei, a Hainan volunteer from Communication University of China, is working in 2022 Beijing Media Center. Her job is to help with field interview, coordinating for journalists’ interview in Beijing. She says that volunteering for Winter Olympics is meaningful and fruitful as she can accumulate both knowledge and working experiences. She plans to find a job and contribute to the development of her hometown Hainan after graduation.

“Seeing the images of my hometown Hainan, I feel familiar and proud,” says Wu Qiuwei happily in an interview on Friday afternoon at the Beautiful China Exhibition Section on the first floor of the 2022 Beijing Media Center.

It’s not easy for Wu to become a volunteer for the Winter Olympics. “I’ve been through rounds of selective interviews and two-month training before I can serve here.”says Wu. She has to give up her winter holiday and a reunion with her parents when the Chinese New Year comes. However, volunteering for the Winter Olympics is worth everything. She thinks it is meaningful and fruitful as she can accumulate both knowledge and working experiences.  

Wu admits that she is both excited and nervous when the Media Center is officially put into service on Friday. “I interpreted for reporters for several times today. I plan to do something to improve my oral English when I get back to university.”

As a college junior, Wu has decided to find a job after graduation. She pays great attention to the development and talents recruiting policies of her hometown Hainan. She says that the development of Hainan Free Trade Port in full swing has attracted many well-known enterprises and institutions from in and abroad and provides numerous job opportunities. And she is willing to work for her hometown and contribute to the development of Hainan Free Trade Port. 

At present, all the citys 758 volunteer service stations for the Winter Olympics have been put into operation with more than 40,000 volunteers in service. During the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, it is expected that the cumulative number of Beijings volunteers will reach 200,000.

This years Winter Olympics continued the successful experience of setting the citys volunteer service station blue cubeof 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. All 758 volunteer service stations exceeded the number of the 2008 Olympics.
