Documentaries co-produced by CUC set out to Milan International FICTS Fest

The 17th Beijing International Sports Film Week kicked off in Beijing last Friday. After two rounds of screening, 17 outstanding films and one Best Popularity in the Media Award  were selected, and 13 films would be sent to Sport Movies & TV – Milan International FICTS Fest, among which are the documentaries Captain She and Through Pandemic to Olympics jointly produced by Xinhua News Agency, Xinhua Sports Media Studio and the School of Animation and Digital Arts of Communication University of China (CUC).

Captain She was co-produced in November 2020 by teachers Huang Yucheng, Zhou Yinan, Zhang Yue and students from the School of Animation and Digital Arts, during which the late teacher Huang Yucheng traveled to Lhasa for the filming despite his illness. Through Pandemic to Olympics was produced from May to August this yearby teachers Zhou Yinan and Zhang Yue and students from the School of Animation and Digital Arts. The film reflects the spirit of today’s Chinese youth and the Chinese sports culture and promotes international cultural exchanges.

Co-organized by FICTS (Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Sport Movies & TV – Milan International FICTS Fest is an international event known as the Oscars of Sports.

In recent years, the School of Animation and Digital Arts has been guiding teachers and students to produce more innovative media-integrated works and has been supporting the exploration in undergraduate teaching courses and works.
