CUC-cofounded Confucius Institute did well in 2021 Digital Educational Materials Design Contest

Two teachers from Confucius Institute of Federal University of Rio Grand Do Sul,co-founded by Communication University of China(CUC),performed well in 2021 Digital Educational Materials Design Contest, winning the first prize and the third prize respectively.

The competition established one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and six outstanding work prizes. 12 teachers from 11 Confucius Institutes of 8 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were awarded. Federal Confucius Institute of Rio Grand Do Sul co-founded by CUC was the only institute to be awarded more than one prize.


The first-prize winner Bai Lanling is Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute of Federal University of Rio Grand Do Sul and  professor of CUC, who not only combined her years of teaching and management experience with the work of the Confucius Institute, but also led the teachers and the volunteers from China to actively explore more ways to improve teaching quality from various aspects so as to meet the challenge brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. About 20 CUC masters majoring in International Chinese Education went to Federal University of Rio Grand Do Sul to work as  teaching interns this year. Wu Xiaoyan, the third prize winner in the competition, is a representative among them.


The 2021 Digital Educational Materials Design Contest, aiming at improving the Chinese education in Latin America and the Caribbean and providing a professional platform for international Chinese teachers to study and communicate, was hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation(CLEC)foundation regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean. The entries need to be designed on the basis of New Practice Chinese Reader Textbook and HSK Standard Course, and should reflect the teaching level of Chinese teachers as well as their abilities to utilize the materials. The prize-winning works will be published in the Chinese Teaching Resources section on the official website of the CLEC foundation regional office for sharing purposes.
