Professor Snica Bokan graduated from the Theatre School of Belgrade Art University in 1995 with a major in Film and Television Editing. In 1996, he established a film and television production company-Arbos and produced a great many of commercial advertisements, music television and television feature films. A lecture with the topic of "the Development of Film and Television in Serbia during the turbulent period" was given by Prof. Bokan for teachers and students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. In the lecture, he focused on the evolution of the film history of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s and on the television industry after Serbia's independence in 2006. He also screened works produced by his company in recent years, including "The Party Zurka" in 2004 and "Dreams of the snow (Alom hava)" in 2016.
In the subsequent communication session, teachers and students expressed their strong interests in Serbian film culture. In the exchange, Professor Bokan shared the following points: 1. For the former Yugoslavia, the production of anti-war films after World War II was the mainstream of its film industry. With the support of the government and the development of film technology and the popularization of television signals, anti-war films developed rapidly. 2. He introduced the film creation projects of the art schools in Serbia and highlighted the efforts made by Serbia in the development of the all-media platform, expressing that in the present time, film production involves the work of social network, marketing and other links besides shooting and editing. 3.The current Hollywood war films all have the characteristics of "epic narration", while the guerrilla films and anti-war films of the former Yugoslavia mostly paid attention to the stories of common people and their daily life during the war.
As one of the key countries of “Belt and Road Initiative", Serbia is currently implementing a "visa-free" policy in cooperation with China. Professor Bokan enjoyed the convenience in the trip to China to a great extent. The good friendship between the two sides reflects more than just in transportation convenience. In the summer of 2016 and 2017, the Faculty of journalism and communication of CUC co-hosted two European workshops featured on underwater photography with Serbian University of Novi sad. The students went to Europe to carry out a rich curriculum learning and cultural exchange activities centered on photography in Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary and other countries.
