From May 1st to 10th, President Hu Zhengrong headed a delegation to visit Thailand, Portugal, and Italy. He attended the Sino-Europe University Presidents Forum, visited four universities, two companies, and the Chinese embassies in Thailand and in Italy.

The delegation first visited Bangkok University. Vice president Dr. Siriwan Ratanakarn warmly welcomed the delegation. Afterwards, the delegation visited the most comprehensive national university with the highest schooling levels in Thailand: Chulalongkorn University. President Bundhit Eua-arporn, dean of the faculty of Communication and Arts Parichart Sthapitanonda, and the office director of the International Affairs Office Kaewjai Nacaskul, met the delegation. The Faculty of Arts of CUC signed a co-cooperation agreement with the School of Communication and Arts of the Chulalongkorn University.

During their visit in Thailand, the delegation also visited the Chinese embassy. Ambassador Ning Binkui had a friendly meeting with the team. In addition, the delegation visited the biggest cable operator in Thailand: True Visions and its biggest 24-hour Thai language news channel.
The delegation’s second visit was to Lisbon, Portugal. On May 5th, the team attended the Sino-Europe University Presidents Forum, which was held at Lisbon university. President Hu Zhengrong was the main speaker, delivering an important speech.

In Lisbon, the delegation also visited the foundation of Energias De Portuga. They negotiated with the company’s vice chairman Sandro Fonseca to work out an agreement between the foundation and CUC related to funding CUC students to study MA programs in Portugal.
On May 7th , the delegation visited Rome. They first visited our traditional cooperative university: Università per Stranieri di Perugia. President Giovanni Paciullo, Italian teacher Lidia Costamagna, and Erica Cecchetti—who were in charge of the cooperation project with Chinese universities—warmly welcomed the delegation. Next, the team visited Terza Università degli Studi di Roma. President Mario Panizza, vice president Giuseppe Di Battista received the delegation.

The delegation also visited the education department of the Chinese embassy in Italy and counselor Luo Ping. On May 10th, after everything was checked off of their itinerary, the delegation headed back to Beijing.
Wang Yongbin, chief of Science and Technology Department, Peng Wenxiang, chairman of Faculty of Arts council, Sun Jie, chairman of Faculty of Literature and Law council, and Liu Fenghai, the deputy director of Student International Communication Department accompanied president Hu during the visit.
