On April 17th, the 6th World Chinese Language Debating Championship closed in Nanjing. The debate team of CUC won the second place, creating the best record of debate competition of universities in Beijing region.
In the preliminaries of the championship in Beijing, CUC team defeated five other teams one after another like Renmin University of China and Beijing Normal University, and entered the finals in Nanjing as the champion in Beijing.CUC team first defeated University of Edinburgh, Taylor’s University and Tianjin University and qualified from the group winning the first place in the group. Then the team defeated University of Edinburgh and Macau Technology University. But in the final on the afternoon of April 17th, our team unfortunately lost to Dalian Technology University and received the silver medal. Our team also won four individual best debater prizes through fierce competition. Wang Yiming had won one best debater prize, and Lu Keyan won the other three.
The 6th World Chinese Language Debating Championship was initiated by Nanjing Audit University. It has been held for 6 times since 2011, covering Asia, Europe and Australia. It has developed into an important debating competition equaling the International University Debating Competition and the World University Debating Competition. Since 2014, CUC has represented the Beijing region for three consecutive years for the final, and this year’s silver medal has been the best achievement.
