On the afternoon of April 18th, CUC's Vice president Cai Xiang and his party were invited to visit Thomson Reuters Information Service Ltd.(Beijing). They talked with James Testa vice-president of Thomson Reuters and his colleagues. The English international periodical Global Media and China has been selected into the SCCI, together with 11other English periodicals in Greater China.
At the meeting, Director Duan Peng of CUC’s Division of Liberal Arts Research and editor Dr. Han Xiao introduced the motivation for starting Global Media and China , its topic choice principle, its internationally editorial staff, its marketing, and its development goals. Mr. Testa expressed that this periodical represents the unique angle of view of China on international media and that it has professional editors, thus has a favorable development prospect. He pointed out that the periodical is now facing both a chance and a challenge. There was still a lot of work to be done. The media should have a theme with a broad dimension. As a new periodical, it should possess creativity and sense of freshness to make itself a brand among international periodicals. , draw more fixed readers.It can start apply for entering ESSCI right after its publishing of the first issue, and a couple of years thereafter ,makes its way to the SSCI two to three years.
Vice president Cai Xiang appreciated the advice of Mr. Testa and expressed that the leaders of CUC all stressed their reinforcing of their communication with the international academic circle. CUC would spare no efforts to support the running of this English international Periodical and to make it good enough to be selected into SSCI.
Thomson Reuters was established in 2008. It was an intelligent information provider for business and professions, jointly set up by The Thomson Corporation and the Reuters Group PLC. The contribution and peer review work solution, Scholar one has been used by most of the academic organizations and publishing companies. The periodical Global Media and China that cooperatively held by CUC and SAGE also uses this contribution system.
Global Media and China was co-launched by CUC’s Division of Liberal Arts Research and the School of International Media Education. They collaborate to run the journal.Its editorial department is in the Division of Liberal Arts Research . In June of 2014, Vice president Liao Xiangzhong visited Thomson Reuters with his team and met with vice president Testa to seek advice and suggestions for its further development.After a years hard work ,it now has started soliciting contributions and double-blind peer review. It is predicted that the initial issue will be published in June 2016.
