YAN'AN, China — On September 16, 2025, the "Hello! China" Yellow River Themed Tourism Overseas Promotion Event was officially launched at the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area in Shaanxi Province. Two students majoring in Broadcasting and Anchoring (Bilingual in Chinese &English) at the Communication University of China (CUC) participated in the event, serving respectively as bilingual host and accompanying interpreter.
The event is jointly hosted by the China Cultural and Tourism Exchange Center, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shaanxi Province, and the People's Government of Yan'an City.Under the theme "Mighty River, Endless Legacy," the event uses Yellow River culture as a symbolic bridge and focuses on international outreach.
Bringing together Chinese and international guests, the promotion campaign aims to highlight the majestic natural landscapes and profound cultural heritage of the Yellow River basin, while advancing the global visibility and appeal of Yellow River-themed tourism.Through a series of immersive presentations and cultural showcases, the event is positioned as a key initiative to enhance cross-cultural exchange and foster deeper global understanding of China’s ancient river civilizations. It marks a significant step in aligning cultural storytelling with international tourism
strategies.

At the opening ceremony, Communication University of China (CUC) student Gao Tianqi took on the role of bilingual host, skillfully moderating the event in both Chinese and English. With a poised stage presence and articulate delivery, he successfully conveyed the cultural richness and contemporary relevance of the Yellow River. His performance was met with widespread acclaim from both domestic and international guests, exemplifying the professionalism and global competence of China's next generation of media talents.

Another student, Wu Keyang, served as an accompanying interpreter, providing language support for international bloggers during their visits to the Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Hall, the Yan'an Museum, and the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area. Demonstrating strong interpreting skills and the ability to adapt swiftly to various communication contexts, he played a key role in facilitating meaningful cross-cultural dialogue. Through his efforts, international guests were able to gain a deeper appreciation of the region's revolutionary legacy, rich traditions of Red Culture, and diverse forms of intangible cultural heritage.
"It was truly an honor to serve as the bilingual host for such a high-profile international event," said Gao Tianqi. "It wasn’t just a chance to put my skills into practice — it was also a meaningful opportunity to share China’s stories with the world, using the power of language.""Through this event, I truly felt the profound revolutionary spirit rooted in Yan'an — once a key base of the Chinese revolution — and experienced the powerful emotions inspired by the landscapes of northern Shaanxi, especially at the Hukou Waterfall," he said. "We hope to help people around the world hear the voice of the Yellow River and gain a deeper understanding of the Red legacy passed down along the path of the Long March."
"Many international guests showed genuine curiosity and deep respect for Yan’an and Yellow River culture," said Wu Keyang. "I often felt like a bridge — conveying their thoughts to the organizers while introducing them to China's cultural stories. This experience helped me truly appreciate the power of language in fostering meaningful cultural exchange."
During the event, participants engaged in a diverse range of cultural experiences, including visits to natural landscapes, historical landmarks, revolutionary heritage sites, and traditional folk activities. These immersive encounters offered a comprehensive introduction to the unique cultural richness of the Yellow River region.
"I truly enjoyed my visit to this city — it has a unique charm that blends history, culture, and modern life in the most beautiful way," said Arezu Mohammadi Far from the Semnan International Silk Road Center in Iran. "The warm hospitality of the local people, the vibrant atmosphere, and the stunning landmarks all made this an unforgettable experience."
As an inheritor of the Ansai waist drum tradition, Cao Yuanliang shared his enthusiasm for promoting this form of intangible cultural heritage."I hope people around the world can feel the energy and passion of the Ansai waist drum," he said. "It makes me really happy to see that so many guests enjoyed our performance."

The participation of the CUC students brought a vibrant youthful presence to the event and exemplified the role of language as a powerful medium for cultural exchange.
