Fourteen students from Communication University of China (CUC) were honored on Saturday at the award ceremony of the Third Global Youth Bilingual Announcing and Anchoring Contest, an event themed “My China Story” that focuses on emotional bonds such as family, friendship, and love, and incorporates various topics such as food, tourism, sports, health, economy, culture, arts, and branding.

After a rigorous review process, 14 students of CUC stood out among 643 contestants from 35 countries and regions, with four receiving Silver Prizes, two earning Bronze Prizes, and the remaining eight securing Individual Category Prizes and Excellence Prizes respectively.

Qianhui Yu, a Silver Prize winner majoring in Bilingual Broadcasting and Anchoring (Chinese-English), presented her video themed “China Youth Express: Gen-Z Delivery”, using Sichuan Opera’s face-changing art as a cultural lens to explore Sino-foreign cultural exchange. She emphasized that in the age of AI, communicators must not only tell stories in foreign languages but also convey them through shared human values to resonate deeply with global audiences.

Wenna Wei, a Silver Prize recipient from Bilingual Broadcasting and Anchoring program (Chinese-Korean), shared her experience of promoting Chinese culture during her exchange study in South Korea through cultural carriers such as Chinese cuisine, ancient-style video games.

Bronze Prize winner Hanrui Zhang shared in Chinese and Spanish the evolution and philosophical essence of Chinese martial arts through his personal training experience, demonstrating the charm and profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture. Enqi Qin, also a Bronze Prize winner, introduced Yuju (Henan Opera), a traditional Chinese opera form, in both Chinese and Japanese, showcasing its unique aesthetic through costume and makeup design.

These winners are all from the School of International Studies at CUC, which offers Bilingual Broadcasting and Anchoring programs in four language directions: Chinese-English, Chinese-Korean, Chinese-Spanish, and Chinese-Japanese. Designed to meet the demands of integrated media, these programs emphasize comprehensive training in the full production process—from interviewing, writing, editing to reporting—while also fostering advanced bilingual proficiency and cross-cultural competence.
