About the speaker:
Dr. Karen Arriaza Ibarra is Professor in Audiovisual Communication at Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, Faculty of Information Sciences, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. She specialised in media, journalism and communication studies, particularly in the comparative analysis of the different audiovisual structures in Europe and the rest of the world, analysis of political communication, political economy of communication, ICTs and cultural industries. She also serves as the International Relations Coordinator of the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, and Coordinator of the Master program ‘Audiovisual Communication for the Digital Era’ in the same Faculty. Since 2016, she have been the Chair of the International Communication Section of International Communication Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). She is the editor of Public Service Media in Europe: A Comparative Approach (Routledge, 2015) .
