The 9th Asian Winter Games grandly opened on the evening of February 7 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Zheng Zhuofu, a 2023 student majoring in Music Performance (Vocal Performance) at the School of Music and Recording Arts of the Communication University of China (CUC), along with three other university students, performed the theme song “Light Up Asia” for this edition of the Asian Winter Games, marking the beginning of the sports event with their passionate voices.

Zheng Zhuofu expressed that performing on the stage of the Asian Winter Games was an extremely precious experience. He not only deeply felt the charm of international sports events but also further appreciated the unique value of music in global cultural exchange. He sincerely thanked the school for its cultivation and the teachers for their meticulous guidance, hoping to continuously improve and explore further on his musical journey, bringing more moving works to the audience.

Additionally, many other CUC students participated in this edition of the Asian Winter Games, taking on roles such as announcers and volunteers, showcasing the demeanor of modern young media professionals.

Gao Zihan, a 2023 student majoring in Radio and Television at the National Key Laboratory of Media Convergence and Communication, served as the English announcer and on-site MC for the figure skating and short track speed skating events. She expressed her honor in participating in the Asian Winter Games' broadcasting work, marking her third time contributing to a sports event. On-site, she witnessed the thrilling moments when the Chinese team won gold in the men's 500-meter short track speed skating and the women's 3000-meter relay. She will continue to help the audience better experience the atmosphere of winter sports, refining her professional skills through practice and striving to become an outstanding media professional.

Zhang Shunyao, a 2021 student majoring in Broadcasting and Hosting Arts at the School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts, served as the announcer for the Asian Winter Games events on Harbin Television's Asian Winter Games channel. She expressed her excitement and pride in participating in the reporting work for the Asian Winter Games. On the field, she witnessed the intense competition and exciting moments of athletes from various countries. Huo Jiawen, a 2022 student majoring in Broadcasting and Hosting Arts at the School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts, was an interpreter for the main registration center operation team of the Asian Winter Games. She mentioned that during the busiest times, thousands of credentials needed to be registered daily. Additionally, the work required meticulous attention, as credentials for volunteers, international dignitaries, and media personnel had to be distinguished. For Huo Jiawen, this work was highly fulfilling, allowing her to experience tasks outside her major and gain a sense of the large scale and international perspective of the Asian Winter Games.

Xu Tianran, a 2023 student majoring in New Media (New Media Industry) at the School of Advertising, served as a language service assistant in the athletes' village. Her responsibilities included receiving athletes from around the world, providing translation services, and assisting NOC assistants in efficiently coordinating with various delegations. Xu Tianran had previously participated in volunteer work for the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Chengdu Universiade, and the 14th National Winter Games. This Asian Winter Games marked her first deep involvement in work closely related to athletes. She viewed this volunteer opportunity as a rare cultural exchange experience, showcasing the youthful spirit of CUC students and conveying the voice of Chinese youth to the world.
