From October 20 to 23, the 2024 International Light Symposium (LS 2024), a heavyweight conference in the field of global light environment design and research, was successfully held in Norway. Jiang Yichen, a lecturer from our school's Light Environment Design Department, and Hao Mengyuan, a postgraduate student in his/her first year of studying Drama and Film & Television (2024 intake), were invited to attend. At the conference, Jiang Yichen delivered a speech, sharing her research on "Lighting X", as the only Chinese scholar present. Meanwhile, her design and research on "Visual Preference Evaluation for Lumina Night Walk Application of Lighting Projection in Vegetated Environment: A Pleasure-Arousal-Dominance (PAD) Model Perspective", in collaboration with Hao Mengyuan, was invited to be presented in research poster sessions and for on-site exchanges.

LS 2024 is a prominent international platform for light environment design and research, gathering the academic visions of top scholars worldwide and concentrating on the application of sunlight and artificial lighting in healthy buildings and human settlements. This year, the summit, under the theme of  "Biophilic Lighting and Darkness Design", explored the roles of lighting and darkness in enhancing the bond between humans and nature and promoting well-being. Experts and scholars from the USA, UK, Germany, UAE, Australia, France, Portugal, Italy, China, Norway, Finland, and Sweden shared their research findings from the perspectives of architecture, daylight illumination, artificial lighting design, environmental sciences, biology, astronomy, and medical science.

The design research exploring the impact of light on emotion conducted by the faculty and student team of our college garnered extensive attention at the conference and received high praise from the attending scholars. This presented work not only demonstrated our team's innovative capabilities in the emerging interdisciplinary field of light environment research and design application, but also earned China's light environment research international recognition, further fostering in-depth international cooperation and exchanges in teaching, scientific research, and creative practice within our college's light environment design.
