An Associate Professor from the Department of Literature, Universidad de Murcia in Spain, Visited the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, CUC

Abstract:
On November 6, 2024, Elena Macías Otón, Associate Professor of the Department of Literature at Universidad de Murcia in Spain, visited The School of Foreign Languages and Cultures (SFC), Communication University of China. She had in-depth exchanges with Liu Ying, Deputy Dean of the School, Zhang Qing, Director of the Spanish Language Program, and Hu Shi, a faculty member, on cooperation in language teaching between the two universities.

On November 6, 2024, Elena Macías Otón, Associate Professor of the Department of Literature at Universidad de Murcia in Spain, visited The School of Foreign Languages and Cultures (SFC), Communication University of China. She had in-depth exchanges with Liu Ying, Deputy Dean of the School, Zhang Qing, Director of the Spanish Language Program, and Hu Shi, a faculty member, on cooperation in language teaching between the two universities.

At the meeting, Deputy Dean Liu Ying warmly welcomed Elena Macías Otón and her delegation and provided a detailed introduction to the disciplinary construction, new educational initiatives, and student training programs. Liu Ying noted that the Spanish Program at CUC has a long-standing partnership with the Department of Literature at Universidad de Murcia, with encouraging results from exchange visits of teachers and students. She expressed her hope for more extensive collaborations in language education, cultural exchanges, and scientific research cooperation, especially in ramping up explorations on multilingual joint education models and cultivating postgraduate students into outstanding talents with a broader international vision.


During the visit, Elena Macías Otón visited the classrooms of our Spanish major and Chinese-Spanish Bilingual Broadcast Host major students, engaging in face-to-face exchanges with them. Her engaging lecture helped students understand the importance of authentic Spanish expressions in grasping social and cultural nuances. Finally, she toured the beautiful campus of the Communication University of China and visited the China Media Museum, experiencing the development history of the Chinese media industry and praising our university’s profound legacy in the media arena.


Since 2003, the Spanish Program at the School of International Studies, Communication University of China, has been collaborating with Universidad de Murcia on the "3+1" Overseas Study Program. During the 2018-2019 academic year, the two universities participated in the Erasmus Programme, a European Union initiative for student mobility. During this visit, the two parties reached new consensuses on academic exchanges and talent cultivation, providing more extensive academic resources and development opportunities for faculty and students from both universities.
