Target at Building up a Characteristic Internationally Advanced Discipline

President Hu Zhengrong has ever said that a good scholar and an outstanding university should adapt to national strategies and take the responsibility of the society. The establishment of the major of Audiovisual Translation just adapts to our national strategy of “China’s Culture Going Out”. And the communication pattern of film translation is one of the most effective ways to enhance our globe voice and perfect our national images.

In terms of the future construction of the discipline of Audiovisual Translation, Mr. Li, the dean of the School, believes that this major in CUC faces both opportunities and challenges. On the one hand, we first set up this major and has formed a complete talent cultivation system with abundant experience, resources and promising developing prospects. On the other hand, we are also confronted with the challenges of the similar majors set up by other universities. The most important key to take the lead and further strengthen ourselves in Audiovisual Translation discipline is to stick to develop in characteristic manners. The first aspect is the discipline construction, we need to further strengthen our foundation,  enrich our connotation and improve our overall level. The second is construction of faculties. The faculties should be enlarged by the way of inner and off-campus training so as to improve our overall quality. The third is the innovation of teaching pattern. The practice should be focused more to let the students to master translation skills in actual translation activities so as to escalate the quality of talent cultivation. The forth is enhancement of national exchanges. Through the exchanges of foreign universities and enterprises and academic exchanges for both teachers and students to catch up the world trend, our academic influences can be further promoted. Besides, we will widen our talent cultivation scope through enrolling international postgraduates and doctors. To sum up, various ways are carried out to build up an internationally advanced characteristic discipline in Audiovisual Translation of CUC.
