Abstract:
On the afternoon of November 11, a delegation from Università per Stranieri di Perugia visited our university.

On the afternoon of November 11, a delegation from Università per Stranieri di Perugia visited our university, including Valerio De Cesaris, President of the school; Valentina Serry, Head of the International Relations Office; and Letizia Cinganotto, School Representative in International Relations. Zhang Shuting, President of our university, met with the delegation. The two sides engaged in discussions on the “3+1” Joint Educational Programme, the cultivation of bilingual talents with versatile skills, and cultural exchanges between Italy and China. The meeting was chaired by Zhong Dandan, Director of the International Office.

Zhang Shuting warmly welcomed President Cesaris and his delegation who came to Beijing to attend the China-Italy Cultural Cooperation Mechanism Conference and the University Presidents' Dialogue, and proceeded to introduce the basic information of the Communication University of China (CUC). He said that CUC strives to establish itself as a world-class media university with Chinese characteristics, focusing on intelligent media and international communications. Aiming for first-rate universities and disciplines, CUC goes all out to integrate new engineering disciplines with new liberal arts and accelerate the development of AI media education. He pointed out that Marco Polo's exchanges with China testify to the mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. Both parties should continue to uphold the friendship and establish more bridges for people-to-people exchanges. For a long time, the two universities have jointly cultivated a large number of bilingual and interdisciplinary talents through the “3+1” educational model, and many outstanding graduates have become the backbone of promoting Sino-Italian cultural exchanges. We believe that President Cesaris' visit will further promote academic and cultural exchanges between the two universities, and we look forward to deepening our collaboration with Università per Stranieri di Perugia to open a new chapter in our exchanges.

Valerio De Cesaris expressed his gratitude to Zhang Shuting and the representatives of faculty and students from our university for their warm reception. He stated that he felt honored to have the opportunity to visit the campus of the Communication University of China, and believed that face-to-face dialogue would help foster stronger friendships between the two parties. As mentioned by President Xi Jinping and President Sergio Mattarella, Italy and China are strategic partners who should deepen the collaborations and exchanges in the liberal arts, including culture, education, and language education. Sending Chinese university students to Perugia, Italy for study each year holds great significance for cultural exchanges between Italy and China. He indicated that the mission of Università per Stranieri di Perugia is to provide Italian language courses and teachers’ training programs and that the school is incorporating AI into its Italian language courses to improve teaching methods and efficiency. He expressed his hope for continuous improvement in the cultivation of professional teachers and for expanding the scope of cooperation with the Communication University of China to include fields such as communication and advertising, by exploring various avenues to support student development and faculty training based on existing cooperation, as well as seeking new modes of cooperation with Hainan International College of Communication University of China.
