Ceremony Held to Celebrate Achievements of 2017 CUC Graduates

Nearly 4000 CUC students and their families, special guests, and representatives of staff members, gathered at the 2017 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony on June 28, 2017 at the CUC Student Activities Center , to celebrate the achievements of the University’s 2017 graduates. They were welcomed by Chairman of the University Council, professor Chen Wenshen, University President, professor Hu Zhengrong and other members of the university leadership.

Vice President professor Liao Xiangzhong announced the results of degree conferral

On behalf of the University, President Hu Zhengrong delivered a speech, expressing his congratulations on the success of the 2017 graduates and deep gratitudes for university staff’s devotion and support from all families of the graduates.

In his speech, President Hu Zhengrong eulogized the companionate relationships between classmates that have enriched the university culture, and encouraged all graduates to bravely embrace the future, heading for a splendid career. He vowed CUC will always be a strong prop for our alumni.

As a representative of all staff members, professor Peng Wenxiang from the Faculty of Arts delivered a congratulatory speech. He hoped CUC gradutes would dovete themselves to media and cultural industries in China and make great contributions to the country’s reform and development. He wished all students would remain honest and virtuous after graduation as they have been during their CUC years.

 

On behalf of all parents, Ms Wang Yan, gave a speech expressing family members’ kind wishes for the bright future of all graduates. Graduate representatives, including undergraduate Gao Guohua who majored in Internet-Based New Media, master student Lu Ye who studied International Communication Journalism , and foreign student Ye Laina from Serbia, who learned Chinese Language and Culture, also delivered their speeches at the ceremony.

Mr Gao Changli, a 1983 alumnus of the Faculty of Arts in his speech shared his professional experiences as director of publicity department of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China and encouraged all 2017 graduates to shoulder their responsibilities as the mainstay of the Chinese society.

During the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the University Council, professor Liu Shouxun announced the resolution of commending outstanding graduates. Zhang Tong from the Faculty of Arts, Wang Xiaoning from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Zhao Ruixi from the Faculty of Economics and Management and other 207 students won the award of '2017 Excellent Graduate Students of Beijing'. Jia Qiuyang from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Li Xiaopan from the Faculty of Literature and Law, Wang Di from the School of International Studies and other 408 students were granted the award of ‘2017 Excellent Graduate Students of CUC’.

 

Vice Chairman of the University Council, professor Zhao Hui announced the resolution of CUC merit students and excellent student leaders. Dong Dao from the Faculty of Arts and other 322 students were given the ‘CUC Merit Student' award, while Wang Zuonan from the Advertising School and other 113 students had the hornor to win the ‘Excellent Student Leader’ award.

 

Talented CUC singers and performers gave their shows at the ceremony with joyful beates celebrating the unforgettable moments of the 2017 class. They were joined by the exciting audience who swayed their bodies in time with the music.

After all speeches and performaces, President Hu Zhengrong and other university leaders conferred degree certificates on all 3783 graduates.

   

The ceremony was live broadcasted via TV and new media platforms, including VR broadcast on mobile devices. Audiences both within and outside of CUC were able to watch the ceremony via CUC official website, screen media on campus, Live channel of CUC TV station, CUC official social media channels , and major new media platforms, including Tencent, Sina, Net Ease, IFENG.com, Youku, toutiao.com, btime.com and CUCTV.com.
